US Steel Buyers Shocked By Prices

US Steels - US sheet buyers stunned by an unprecedented four sheet price increases over the last few weeks may be getting some relief. It is reported that ArcelorMittal is telling customers that, while it is following the latest move to raise fob hotrolled coil prices to $700/s.t, it will guarantee that price for deliveries through March 31, 2011, market sources tell Steel Business Briefing. ArcelorMittal will also guarantee an $820/s.t coldrolled coil price over the same period, they said. Market sources said all major US mills are now at around $700-710/s.t for HRC and $810-820/s.t for CRC and galvanized sheet substrate, following leading moves by Nucor and Steel Dynamics that were reported by SBB last week.
